HD Rolfson Family Reunion

We are beginning to get to that stage where the next generation will be marrying and having their own families, so before that begins I thought that it would be nice for all of us to get together for a family reunion.  It has been a long time since some of us have seen each other.  Family is so important so before time slips away too much further let's get together for some family time together.  I would like to do this sooner than later but I need feedback from all of you.

Here's what we need to do:

  1. If everyone could respond on this blog, then we can see each others' responses and build from there.
  2. Be thoughtful about what works for you but also what compromises will need to be made in order to accommodate all of us in some way.
Here is the beginning of this discussion:

I am thinking that we should aim for the summer of 2015

  1. What time in the summer of 2015 works best for you?
  2. What time frame works best for your family. i.e. 2 days, 3 days, a week, etc.?
  3. What location would work best and be fair to the majority of people, i.e. Raymond/Magrath/ Waterton area, Calgary, Washington, North Dakota, Utah, or some other in between place?
  4. What activities would you like to include, i.e. golf, water sports, amusement parks, hiking, etc.?
  5. What would you be willing to do to contribute to the planning, execution, activities, food, etc.?
I am sure there are more questions and thoughts but this will get the ball rolling.  If you have any other questions, etc. to add please feel free.

I think we have an awesome family that mom and dad, grandma and grandpa have created and this would be to honor them and the legacy they have created.

Everything is Picked and Sorted

I have slaved over a hard desk, used my computer, red pen, fairness meter and have done my best to make sure that things were divided equitably. For the most part, the duplicate selections were sorted out by all of youbut for some I did my best to compare lists and make a decision from there. I hope that you will see it as fair and be happy with what you have ended up with. I haven't decided whether I will send an email to each of you with your list of if I will post it here. Keep watching.

Note: Nothing can be taken from the house before it is sold. Do not contact Grandma about this. She has left me in charge and would like that I handle all decisions about what goes out and when.
Kitchen items have been sorted and boxed and left in Barb's house for the Pitcher kids so check out your mom's house at your convenience. There are a few other items there as well.
We are having some re-wiring done in the house this week, then I will clean it and put it up for sale this weekend. Access to the house will no longer be available as it has to stay in "showing" condition.

Final Days

Two more "shopping" days

By late Thursday evening I will be going through the lists and writing down everything that all of you have requested and then taking the list to Grandma on Friday. There will be some decisions that will have to be made for those things that have been requested by more than one person, in some cases we will look at what other things you have received and in most cases it will be the flip of a coin. I don't know how else to make it fair. Once this is done I will send you a list of the things that are yours. We are having a garage sale on Saturday so anything from the kitchen that you want I will take out before we put the rest into the garage sale. Most of the rest of the things you will need to wait until the house sells as I am using them to stage the house for sale. We are hoping for a quick sale but that may be hopeful and not reality.

I for got to mention that there are the games as well. Perry Mason was Barbara's so any of her children that might want that have first choice. Wide World and Life were mine but I am willing to give up Life if anyone wants it. Of course Grandma would like Brandon to have the Carpet Bowl if he wants it.

I had asked Grandma for the 5 crystal glasses that are sort of funnel shaped (sorry, no picture available). They have always been my favorite but I really don't have anywhere to put them and I have seen that several of you are requesting the crystal goblets so if one of you would like the funnel shaped ones you may have them.

Kitchen Items

Here are pictures of the items in drawers and cupboards for your perusal. I know it is hard to tell exactly what is in them but do your best. I couldn't get the items to show up in the corner cupboard so do your best to try to remember what was there. This particular cupboard included the pots and pans, roaster, etc.

Tara,

At one point you had asked Grandma for the encyclopedias because they were all alike and you wanted them for display. Do you still want them?

Random items below. Just below these few things are the kitchen items.

You guys have done a great job of making selections. For the most part this have been divided well. There are just a few items that will require some decision making.

Mirror that was n the upstairs bathroom
Divided serving tray
Glass serving tray
Crystal bell and vase

Sorry, couldn't get this one to rotate.

Take your pick!!

All of these items are for everyone to choose from. Please post your requests here so that everyone can see and then we will go from there. Please let me know by next Thursday , Sept. 2 as I am planning on having a garage sale this coming weekend and some of these items will go into that. Later the big things will go into an estate sale when the house is sold.

Extra microwave for the office, downstairs, etc.
super good dryer. only a couple years old. We may want to leave it in the house but put in your request.
Deep freezer
The grey and beige filing cabinets are separate but you are welcome to both.
Little bookshelf that might be good for a child's room.
Just this coffee table with a shelf for magazines. The couch behind we are throwing out.
A painting that Grandma did.
Good desk. Ignore the other stuff.
Take it as a suite or pieces.
Third bedroom suite. I did not take a picture of the double bed as it was covered with things for the garage sale.
Ignore all the stuff on the couch. This hide - a - bed would give you extra sleeping for unexpected quests.

Sewing chest for thread, scissors, etc.
Sewing machine cabinet which includes a great machine and chair.
Old Chief Mountain given to Grandpa by Aunt Edna

Recliner
The long coffee table is turned upside down on this dresser. They do not go together.
This is the dresser for another bedroom suite. I did not take a picture of the bed as it has just a flat headboard. It is in the blue room. It is only a double bed. The dresser is above.

This artist work desk add that artist and decorators flair to a room.
Great plant stand and plant for that awkward corner you don't know what to do with and to add life to a room.
Great little rocking chairs that would fit nicely in a corner in a bedroom, family room etc. The throw shawl draped over it is also available.
Very interesting art work.
Work that Grandma did.
This night table is not an exact match to the bedroom suite below but looked great with it. Take it separately or with the whole set.

There is this bedroom suite. I will include the dresser and highboy as well. You can take it as a suite or in separate pieces. The picture above the bed is also available.
There is the long coffee table that goes with this but you can take them together or separately.
This is a halogen light and is very bright for those areas that need lots of lighting.
The couch table and these bookends (separate from the table) if you would like them.
Here is the end table and also the lamp. There are two lamps. They can go separately from the tables.
This coffee table, end table and couch table are also available. The coffee table is a bit wobbly but the other two are in good shape.

Of course you all know that there are two of these love seats.
